The Road to Fallujah, AGAIN

I went to Iraq in 2004 - to take a look at what was happening. When I returned, I wrote “A Message From Falluja To The American People.” First published on Countercurrents.org, it quickly spread far beyond that single outlet carrying the voices of Fallujah’s civilians into homes across the world. I remember writing it, and feeling helpless to stop the violence, to make people see that every life counts and to understand that the lies and dehumanization of “the other” creates a madness, an emptiness within us all. I found the letter recently and it stunned me how may similarities there are to the ongoing atrocities in Gaza. My heart bleeds and I feel helpless again. I am sick from my own silence.
